Free Basic Software

Open up Google Play, search for “Pleco” and tap “Pleco Chinese Dictionary” to instantly download the free basic version of Pleco for Android; you can also download it outside of Google Play by typing pleco.com/getandroid in your device’s web browser.

You can then purchase the add-ons below from inside of the app (in the “Add-ons” tab, accessible via your device’s menu button) or from our online store - see this page for more details on how to purchase Pleco.

Bundled Packages

The easiest / cheapest way to upgrade your copy of Pleco from the basic version is to purchase a bunch of add-ons in a discounted bundle.

Basic Bundle (US $29.99) - includes all of our most popular features - OCR, flashcards, stroke order diagrams, document reader, Mandarin Audio, and Kai font add-ons - plus the Oxford Chinese Dictionary.

Professional Bundle (US $59.99) - includes the Oxford Chinese, ABC Chinese-English Comprehensive, ABC English-Chinese, New Century English-Chinese, Tuttle Chinese-English, and Guifan Chinese-Chinese dictionaries, along with all of the features from the Basic Bundle plus a male TTS voice to go along with the female one that’s built into Android.

Note that we currently offer these bundles at a modest discount if you purchase through our website store instead, reflecting the fact that we don’t have to pay Google a commission that way. Purchases work exactly the same regardless of where you buy them from, it’s just that with our website you have to enter an ID to activate it instead of doing it automatically from your Google account (but then of course it will continue working even if you change Google accounts or abandon Google altogether).
