When is version 4.0 coming out?

Hopefully pretty soon on iOS; it's in beta-testing now, contact us with your name and Registration ID if you'd like a beta invite. We've designed it to be much more platform-agnostic than our current app, so it should be a pretty quick port to Android once it's ready, but we can't offer any more specifics than that.

Are you working on a desktop version?

Yes. Mac first and probably Windows later. It should enter beta-testing on macOS pretty soon, if you sign up for our mailing list you'll get a note when it's available.

Do you support any other languages besides Chinese and English?

We have a couple of Chinese-German and Chinese-French titles now, including the amazing "Grand Ricci." We have licensed a big new collection of other Chinese translation dictionaries that we hope to launch soon, including Spanish. We have no immediate plans to create a version of Pleco for languages other than Chinese, but we will re-evaluate this after 4.0 is released.

Can I move my purchase between iOS and Android?

Yes. Just copy your Registration ID from the Pleco Registration screen on one device and enter it in the other.

Does your software work without an internet connection?

Yes. It needs an internet connection for the initial download and activation, but once it's set up, all features work offline.

Does your software support traditional and simplified characters?

Yes, fully both. A couple of dictionaries and readers are traditional- or simplified-only — these are marked as such in the Add-ons screen.

How do I back up my flashcards?

On iOS, tap Import/Export in the sidebar, then Backup Database, save the file, then go into File Manager, tap the (i) button next to the file, tap "Share / Open In," and share it with whatever destination you like. On Android, tap Import/Export, Backup Database, save to your device storage, and copy from there to your computer, or just save it directly to Google Drive or another cloud storage service.
